  • [How to enjoy]

This is not a formal tea ceremony, but the key points that anyone can easily make to make matcha deliciously. First, prepare the tea utensils: a matcha bowl, a tea whisk, and a tea scoop.
    (1) Put matcha into a bowl. The recommended amount of matcha is 1 and a half scoops (approximately 1.5g to 2g), or about 1 teaspoon. (For ``koicha'', mix about twice as much matcha and use less boiling water.)
    (2) Pour boiling water into a bowl. The temperature of the hot water is slightly lower in the summer and slightly higher in the winter. Be sure to pour boiling water into another teacup, and once you transfer it, the temperature will be around 80 degrees, which is the appropriate temperature. The amount of hot water should be about 1/5 (about 70cc) at the bottom of the matcha bowl.
    (3) Stir (mix) quickly with a tea whisk. Hold the tea whisk upright and put it in a bowl, mix slowly at first so that the matcha at the bottom is mixed with the hot water, then use your wrist to shake the tea whisk back and forth to stir the matcha at once.
    (4) Pull up the tea cup. When fine bubbles form, move the tea whisk slowly to smooth the surface, then turn the tea whisk once in a ``no'' shape and gently lift it from the center.
